Customise the menu

You must have:

• Set up your Sage 200 user account.

  To customise the Menu, each Sage 200 user account must have the Can Edit Menus option selected in their User Account Properties in Sage 200 System Administration.

About adding a navigation group

You can add a new navigation group to the Navigation bar using the Menu Design Mode.

The Navigation groups appear on your Navigation bar.

You can then add the following:

• Folders. Use folders to group your options together.
• Options. Each option opens a Sage 200 window or runs a report.
• Dashboards. These appear in your work area when you make a selection from the Navigation bar.

To add a navigation group:

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.

   If you are editing your own menu, select User Own Menu.

2. Right-click in a space between the existing modules, then select Add Module.
3. Enter a Name for the group.

4. To change the icon for the module, click Change Icon. Select an icon from the list.

   To use a different icon, click Browse. Select an icon from the list and click OK.

5. To add a dashboard to the work area for this module, select the dashboard from the Dashboard Type drop-down list. Next select the Sage 200 module from the Dashboard Value drop-down list.

   For example, if you select List and Sales Ledger, the Customer List will be displayed in the work area when you select this navigation group.

6. Click Save to confirm the changes.

About adding options to the Navigation bar

The options on your Navigation bar appear in a tree view, when you select a Navigation group.

Each option will open a Sage 200 window, or run a report.

You can add:

• Existing options from any Sage 200 module.
• An item, such as workspace, that has a targetA target is the action associated with a feature. Each feature must have a target in order to do something. For example, a target could be to open a form (window), produce a report, run any OS Invocable (any application or process you can access through the Run option in the Microsoft Windows Start menu), open a workspace (an area on your desktop which can contain several panels of information from Sage 200 modules), or open a content part (an area of a workspace). All features installed with Sage 200 and with any add-on packages have targets added automatically. set up in System Administration.
• An item from a third party database, as long as it has a target set up in Sage 200 System Administration.
• A file.

To add menu options:

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.

   If you are editing your own menu, select User Own Menu.

2. Right-click the relevant module and select Add Menu Item.
3. Enter a Name for the option.
4. Select the item you want to add from the Select Target Type drop-down list.
Add an Existing Target
Use this to:
• Add an existing option from any of the Sage 200 modules.
• Add an item, such as a workspace.
• Add an item from a third party database, that has a target set up in Sage 200 System administration.
1. Click Select.
2. Click Select Target. This can be a Sage 200 module, a workspace, or a third-party database.
3. Select the option from the Targets list. To see all targets, clear the Show only unassigned targets box.
Add a file
Either:
• Enter the name of the file in the Open box.
• Click the Browse button to locate the file.

5. To change the icon for the option, click Change Icon. Select an icon from the list and click OK.

   To add a different icon, select Browse. Locate the file where the icons are stored. Select the required icon from the list and click OK.

6. To associate a dashboard on your work area with this option, select the dashboard from the Dashboard Type drop-down list.
7. Select the Sage 200 module for the dashboard from the Dashboard Value drop-down list.
8. Click Save to confirm the changes.

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.

   If you are editing your own menu, select User Own Menu.

2. Select the relevant menu item.
3. Remove the tick to the left of the item.
4. Click Save to confirm the changes.
5. Click Close to exit the Menu Design Mode.

To hide a navigation group

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.

   If you are editing your own menu, select User Own Menu.

2. Right-click on the Module header and select Hide.

To show a navigation group

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.

   If you are editing your own menu, select User Own Menu.

2. Right-click on the Module header and select Show.

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.

   If you are editing your own menu, select User Own Menu.

2. Right-click the module or option and select Rename.
3. Enter the new name for the option or Navigation group.

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.

   If you are editing your own menu, select User Own Menu.

2. Right-click on the module or option and select Change Icon.

   The Select New Icon window appears.

3. Click Browse. The Change Icon window appears, displaying a set of default icons.

4. Select the required icon from the list.

   To use a different icons file, click Browse to locate the file where the icons are stored.

   The new icon appears in the Image List on the select New Icon window.

5. Select the required icon.
6. To use the new icon, click OK.

You can group the options in a Navigation group into folders. Then you can then drag the options into the new folder.

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.

   If you are editing your own menu, select User Own Menu.

2. Right-click on the relevant module and select Add Folder.
3. Enter a Name for the folder.
4. To change the icon for the item, click Change Icon. Select an icon from the list and click OK.
5. To associate a dashboard for this item, on your work area, select the dashboard from the Dashboard Type drop-down list.
6. Select the module for the dashboard, from the Dashboard Value drop-down list.
7. Click Save to confirm the changes.

About adding a new Navigation group or option to all roles

When you create a new navigation group or option on the Navigation bar, it is only available for the role you have created the Menu view for.

To add the Navigation group or option to all roles, you can use the Export wizard to create an SDBX file. You can then import this file using the Add-on wizard in System Administration.

Open: Tools > Menu Design Mode.

1. Select the role, from the Edit desktop for Role drop-down list.
2. Right-click the relevant Navigation group or option, then select Export.
3. Follow the steps in the Menu Export Wizard to generate the SDBX Add-on file.
4. In Sage 200 System Administration, import the generated SBDX file by adding a new Add-on.
